Manifesto

June 2026

We're tiny.
We love design.
We love computers.
And we love to make good software.

Every company starts with a story.
(At least that's how it used to be.)
Ours is simple: What if we only built things that we would love to use?

Sounds simple, but it's surprisingly rare in today's time.
The world today builds only for profit. For the biggest market share. With the largest set of features.

We make tools for ourselves first.
Design them with attention. Build them with care.
Not to change the world. Just to share them.

Small

Small Software Co. is not a company in the traditional sense. It's our workshop.
Our place to experiment, chase interesting ideas, and sometimes turn them into software worth sharing.

We don't have roadmaps.
We don't have quarterly goals.

We don't have a domain or market to chase.

What we have instead is

  • A little extra time on the weekends
  • Freedom to try the ideas that interest us
  • Respect for the people who'll use what we make
  • A belief that software can be joyful

Fun

We don't want to rush and ship just another feature.
Or build 12 small apps in 12 months just because we can.

We're people who're in for the love of the game.

We like our problems.
We love sitting with our problems and sleeping over our ideas.
Write them down until we understand them better.
Design them.
Code them.

Like a carpenter shapes a chair.

Because if it wasn't fun to make,
how could it be fun to use?

Meaningful

Fun doesn't mean frivolous.

In fact, the opposite.

Good work takes time.

We want to put in all the time, attention and care.
So you don't have to.
So it saves time for you.
Maybe even sparks some joy & brings a little smile.

If we aren't proud to put our name on it,
we won't ship it.

Promise of forever

The software shouldn't disappear because the company did.

A lot of it does.
At some point in time, it was an exception.
Now it's expected.

We think the software you use should belong to you.

That's why most of what we'll build
will run on your computer.

Your tools. Your data.

Even if we disappear some day,
the software won't.

What's in it for you

If you use something we build, you can expect it to be

  • Small. Fits in your head.
  • Honest. Does what it says. Never tracks you.
  • Yours. Your software. Your data.
  • Joyful. Made by people who enjoyed making it.

Let's make software fun again.

And worth using.

Cheers
